Welcome to our new blog ! This space i s going to be used to regularly update on what the 'Pure Balance' team have been getting up to, learnings and insights along the journey and to let you know of any forthcoming events, and any monthly special offers.
The 'Pure Balance' team recently attended a TFT (Thought Field Therapy) level 1 training led by the brilliant Chris Milbank. (www.infinite-mind.co.uk). And what a fantastic training it was!
Chris is a genuine modern day healer, with lots of knowledge and experience having worked alongside Roger Callaghan - the founder of TFT , -for many years.
So, what is TFT ? - TFT involves 'tapping' on specific meridian or energy points- which (dependant on the sequence used )can easily and effectively unblock negative emotions such as fear, anger , hurt , sadness. It is also a great tool for anxieties , traumas and dealing with various phobias. It can even help with physcial pain and physcial illness !! And what is really fantastic- this tool is really fast ( ie often one session) and you dont have to talk in any real detail about what is causing you a problem.
When we tune our thoughts to a happy memory we may feel elated but when when we tune our mind to a sad memory we may feel emotional pain. We can tune our minds very much like tuning a radio. Wherever we take the radio in a room it is playing and we can listen to the same channel until we switch it. The radio transmits the information of the channel wherever we move because it is already out there. That is how we perceive the Thought Field of information ready for us to tune into. When we tune into our Thought Field we can tap on certain meridians or energy pathways that carry information, and when we tap on these points we can collapse the negative information that causes the emotional disturbances.
Since undertaking the training , Sue has already had some great success - such as helping someone with a fear of flying, and using a TFT 'emergency rescue remedy' for a near car collision and a bumble bee sting. I am pleased to say that in both 'emergency' situations the person(s) believed that their anxiety levels where considerably reduced , enabling them to better deal with the situation at hand .
Also, what we are really thrilled about in now offering TFT to our clients is that it blends really well with NLP - the bedrock of our healing work. Whilst TFT enables a client to tune into the Thought Field, NLP helps the client get more specific about the sounds, the feelings and the pictures etc increasing the potential to collapse the negative information and get good evidence that change has really occurred.

Having recently relocated to Dartmoor, I've been thinking a lot lately.....about managing change in our lives...... So, if you're anything like me, you will have experienced change at some point in your life as .....well, quite honestly scary.
Now, according to Maxwell Maltz, any change in our lives whether moving house like I have recently, change in career, change in relationships, change in health, change in finances etc, takes us out of our comfort zone and in so doing, sends a chemical signal into our nervous system. Our brain picks up this signal as fear, doubt, or anxiety and automatically interptrets that feeling as a danger signal. This prompts us to make any necessary adjustments,- really to bring us back to our previous state,- our comfort zone if you like. You could say it works like a thermosat.
This alert system is known as the Psycho-Cybernetic Mechanism, and though it being activated dosn't literally mean there is danger ahead, you could say it is asking you a series of questions like:- " Did you mean to step out of your comfort zone? "........"Are you aware you are moving into unknown territory ?".........."Is this what you really want ?".
So, what if we want to embrace the challenge of change, how can we overcome these scary uncomfortable feelings associated with change in our lives ? Well, its all in the mental preparation !!
We have to introduce the idea of change to the (unconscious) mind before it actually happens. A bit like preparing a child for their 1st day at school. We need to create a vivid, genuine experience in our mind, using all our senses, so that when the actual change happens the psycho-cybernetic mechanism is ready. The result being you will experience the change much more comfortably.
For example, knowing I was about to make a big change in relocating from the North West to the South West of England, I recognised that I needed to prepare my mind for the changes that lay ahead. So, for about six months prior to moving house, I regularly visited Dartmoor- my new home,- familarising myself with the physical enviornment, getting to know my new neighbours, checking out local amenities and so on. I also began to visualise myself in my new home, making the pictures colourful and vivid, hearing what I might be saying and how positive I would be feeling having made such a wonderful lifestyle change.
When I was back in the North West preparing for the big move, I would consciously run this full sensory experience in my mind whenever I had a few minutes to spare . Very soon my unconscious mind started to spontaneously upload these images for me as it was clearly adjusting to the impending change. The more creative you can be , the more compelling the experience will be for your mind.
There's a great story Richard Bandler (Co-creator of NLP) tells about the family therapist Virginia Satir. Back in the 1970's Virginia asked Bandler what he considered was the most basic human instinct. Bandler instantly replied:- "survivial". No, Virginia said it is "familiarity" - because all humans have a basic need for the familiar (ie comfort zone). Bandler very soon came to agree with Virginia. What Bandler and others since have provided us is an understanding about the power of the Unconscious Mind to be "the freeway to change".
So, though we have a human desire for familiarity and our psycho-cybernetic mechanism is activated in times of (big) change, the great news is that we can control our brain to make comfortable and positive changes in our life..........
